WHAT OUR SLOGAN MEANS TO YOU

The "Millwork Network" is our way of abbreviating the statement of all the services we offer. The operative word is "WORK". The concept has been proven to WORK for us. Our Candidates all have a high WORK ethic, or we would not recommend them. The results of our efforts do WORK in serving our industry. The people and products and counsel we offer do WORK in benefiting our clients.

We use "Millwork" in its broadest sense. Of course we began with woodwork and still speak a little "sawdust", the language of the millwork industry! But innovative materials and high tech production have greatly broadened the product lines our Clients handle and the number of firms we can help. Metals, plastics, reconstituted wood, synthetics, and a host of new ideas are redefining the versatility and performance standards of building materials in use today. Our sphere of influence and involvement extends to firms in these fields, as long as they utilize the millwork supply channels from manufacturer to the market. We don't claim any expertise outside that narrow focus, but within it, we're good.

HOW OUR SLOGAN BECAME A BUSINESS

The "Millwork Network" concept of a firm specializing in Millwork people to benefit our industry was born in 1988. Don Hall wanted to start a company which served others while making a living from his many years in doors, windows, stairs, and mouldings. He wanted to focus on who's doing what in Millwork across America. That focus would be on QUALITY PEOPLE, the essential nerve-center of any successful business.

Don's experience in Millwork began in 1949 while working Summers in his father's Ready-Hung Door business, the first factory in the world to produce pre-hung door units. When Don graduated from Abilene Christian College (now University) in 1951, his father, J.D. Hall Jr., soon started two other related businesses: El Paso Moulding Co, producing the first production finger-jointed mouldings in the country, and the world's first door light company which became the family enterprise for over 37 years as The Visador Company. Since Don was the second permanent employee at Visador, he was highly involved in pioneering and developing millwork products and innovative marketing where no one had been before. This creative legacy continues to this day through the founding of Don Hall & Associates and the offering of unique products like Kutter-Kleener and Evapo-Rust.

During the next five years after Visador, Don established a successful Manufacturer's Rep business and then directed sales and marketing for The Ideal Company, the largest manufacturer of pine windows and doors in Texas. In 1988 Joann joined Don when they began their own family business of putting Jobs and People together. Now Joann actively works in our Headquarters office, specializing in "marketing" Candidates with outstanding or unique qualifications. She also regularly works millwork trade shows with Don.

The "Millwork Network" provides connecting linkage for Jobs and People, Buyers and Sellers, Needs and Solutions. All are made possible by our networking. We would not presume to be aware of all events and firms in this country involved in Millwork, let alone stay in contact with even most of them. But, with over 50 years now in this industry we have learned that our background knowledge from the past and our vision of the future are valuable to others, glued together with a lot of hard work in between.

Don Hall & Associates has proven to be the most widely-known and successful Search and Placement firm dealing exclusively within the Millwork Industry. We love being called "Head-Hunters". That's OK. As long as we're called!

WHO ARE OUR ASSOCIATES?

The Millwork Network has built an outstanding reputation for integrity and effectiveness. We continue this through pioneering concepts, hard work, honorable dealings with all, effective promotion, and personal acquaintances in our industry. Whenever a need or opportunity arises that calls for more time or expertise than we possess, we will turn to "Outside Associates" with special skills or experience. Such Associates are organically independent contacts and friends who can get the job done for our Clients with the same high standards of ethics, skills, and attributes that have built our business. That's what makes us America's premier Millwork Search and Placement firm.

From our inception in 1988, our first Associates were the Advertising Agency owned by Curtis and Kelly Wittmann in Dallas. They are long-time friends from our Visador years. Because they know our trade and its terminology, it was quite natural and beneficial to our Clients to call on them for professional advertising help. We can still provide services in advertising and marketing.

The second step in our growth occurred in 1996 when Jerry "Shep" Sheppard opened our West Coast Office. After 6 years as a successful Associate, Shep has chosen to retire in 2003 from active Head-Hunting. Still, he continues to provide Candidates and job leads to us and we are grateful for his sterling contribution to our success.

On occasions we have turned to highly-regarded experts to provide Financial Consulting for Mergers and Acquisitions, like Emile Castanet of Atlanta, GA. He is also now retired, but we are thankful for his friendship and contribution to our reputation and progress.

We will continue to call other specialists into the picture as needed to provide Consulting Services, Manufacturing expertise, Merger and Acquisition assistance, Financial Counseling, and Environmental Cleaning advice. Again, we will only utilize those who have a proven record, special skills, and integrity in all their dealings. That's how we can provide a broad line of services for our Clients, a true Millwork Network!

WHO CAN WE HELP?

Manufacturers, Jobbers, Distributors, Millwork Specialists, and Retailers form our core clientele throughout the U.S., with occasional contacts in Canada and Mexico. We are close to the Association of Millwork Distributors and the Wood Moulding and Millwork Producers Association. We often deal with their members, suppliers, and dealers. If you are a member of either AMD or WMMPA, we will NOT recruit your people. Only if an employee approaches us first would we even consider assisting them in their career development.

We periodically attend the International Builders Show to keep abreast of the Builders world and product innovations. We routinely advertise in trade journals such as Shelter, Modern Woodworking, Fenestration and Home Channel News. Cabinet, Custom, and Architectural Millwork firms are frequently among our Clients. Our advertising and networking routinely target all these areas.

Another distinct service we provide is our Rep Network, helping independent Manufacturer's Reps find lines or Manufacturers find Reps. This is especially beneficial to Manufacturers who don't know the U.S. market or want to expand sales into other states. Because of our contacts through the years, we can find Reps who have a proven record, special skills, and a reputation for integrity and success.

At the risk of using a word that is overworked today, we truly "Network" in our industry. The exchange of information, the search for quality Candidates, the digging we do to find the answers, and the reliance upon industry contacts to keep us current, all mesh together like fine gears. That's true "Networking" and we do a lot of it!

WHERE DO WE GET OUR CANDIDATES?

Candidates in our "Millwork Network" provide us with a very unique and private "Library" of who's available or may be willing to look at a career opportunity. Our Candidates cover nearly every skill in millwork you can think of from Foreman to President. And our listings are growing daily. We now have over 3500 Candidates in our Confidential files. This ready access results from thousands of hours and dollars spent in networking and advertising. So, when we give you a good professional Candidate real fast, it's because we've already been working in advance for YOU!

Yes, our phone bill is horrendous. But that's OK. Just call us. The "Millwork Network" can work for you too. It is our slogan, but it means solutions, service, integrity, and experience to benefit you and our dynamic industry.

Jobs and Career Openings Available

HOW WE WORK AND ARE PAID

Our Placement Services are all on a Contingency basis. If you don't hire our Candidate, you don't pay our Placement Fee. Signing up with us is easy and quick. We ask you to (1) Fill out a Job Order form describing the position you need to fill, and (2) Sign our Fee Schedule which explains the details of our Placement Fee, Warranty, and Payment Terms. This form gives the specifics of our Warranty policy. We provide a limited guarantee that our Candidate will not resign during the early stages of employment, or we will replace them at no extra charge. You do not have this benefit when you hire on your own!

Once we know what everyone is responsible for, the search begins. First, we'll look in our Candidate pool of Resumes to see if we already have your guy - or gal. Then we'll utilize our network to find the right person as soon as possible. We'll start by looking in your immediate area and spread out from there. Sometimes it takes three days, other times it may be three months or more depending on all the circumstances. But we'll try hard to fill your needs soon, because we like to eat too!

When a likely prospect is found, or two or three or so, we'll give you their Resumes along with their expression of interest in your job opening. We always try to get people in the price range you have specified, but if an unusual Candidate is found who has a standard of living somewhat above your range, we may submit them too for you to compare. You already know we usually get only what we pay for.

After you approve which Candidate(s) you are interested in, we'll set up a phone interview for you and the Candidate to decide if you both want to pursue it further. Once we have screened and recommended a Candidate, we urge you to at least interview him by phone. We are very sensitive about your time and our reputation for finding good Candidates. So, please, never decide on the merits of our Candidate by looking at the Resume alone! We'll check references at that point if you ask, or you may prefer to do it yourself for a direct response.

Then, if you want to personally interview the Candidate(s), we'll assist in coordinating schedules and transportation information. The Client usually pays any expenses required at this stage and for subsequent authorized visits.

We work toward insuring a comfortable match between Candidate and Client. We will assist in negotiating the compensation and benefits also if either party wishes. We assure you of even-handedness, candor, and fairness to all. Once our Candidate is hired, our invoice to the Employer is payable within 10 days after he or she begins work. To retain your Warranty, payment MUST be mailed within that 10 day period.

Clients using our Placement Services have the unique advantage of professional help from within our industry. We are one of YOU! And we know how to find good professional people. Good people are the essential ingredients in every successful business. If your time is valuable, spend it in running your business, not in wasteful trial-and-error interviews and wading through random applicants. We speak the language of your industry and the professional Placement world. You can't do better than that.
